EVERYONE needs a strong abdominal wall to stabilize the trunk during walking, help maintain proper function of organs in the abdominal region, and to prevent an abdominal hernia which can occur during heavy lifting from increased abdominal pressure (extreme).

Isometric, flexion, and rotational exercises to target the rectus abdominis, oblique, and internal abdominis should ALL be included at some point during a training program.

To help bulletproof your back don’t forget about strengthening spinal erector muscles abs short, deep muscles of the low back (epaxial muscles). Incline back extension and horizontal back extension are great, simple exercises to start with.

Our scholastic performance program is a year round Our scholastic performance program is a year round program focused on developing speed, strength, technique, mobility, & work capacity for atheltes.

 Access to individualized training plans based on sport & the physical development needs of the athlete are key to long term continued progress.

A bigger muscle is generally a more powerful muscle, and as such, one of the keys to increasing speed is to get stronger so that the athlete can apply more force into the ground to propel their body forward. Support for this idea comes from a study on the physical qualities of high-level track athletes that was published in the Journal of Experimental Biology in 2005. The researchers found that runners who excelled in the shorter events possessed considerably more muscle mass than those in the longer events. Regional specific muscle density was correlated as well, hip flexors, hip extensors, lower limb extensors.

Physics can not be beat. If you can not apply the proper forces in the proper angles you are "penalized" by taking longer to execute the motion. Be that changing direction, jumping, cutting, sprinting, hurdling, etc.

For most atheltes they can greatly improve by simply building a solid foundation of strength as their base to build upon their sport skills.
